A unicorn party filled with giant pink balloons, lovely flowers, sparkle and glitter is every little girl’s dream come true! Add to that delicious treats, a floral watercolor cake and several rides on a real unicorn (shh!), and she will never forget her special day.
The Story
This party was planned for a very special little girl in the courtyard of the Waldorf Astoria in Atlanta. The venue was beyond perfect to make the unicorn magic happen! With a water feature in the center, and beautifully manicured grounds around it, we set up a gorgeous celebration for the guest of honor, and her sweet friends.
Fun Fact
Getting our unicorn into the above-mentioned courtyard was quite the challenge. The front entrance of the hotel lobby has a set of revolving doors, which of course, wasn’t designed to accommodate large animals. We tried gently guiding our unicorn through the regular doors, but she wasn’t having any of that!
Solution: Let’s use the back entrance, and bring the unicorn via the freight elevator. We walked to the back, and sweet talked her into boarding the elevator. She was a little agitated at first, but then calmed down once she got to the open courtyard, to the party area. Then she got right into her sparkly unicorn element, and the girls had a fantastic time with her!
Entertainment
When planning kids parties, I really focus on the entertainment element first. While kids appreciate the special little touches of decor elements, what they really remember is the FUN factor! For this party, we also hired a couple of “unicorn princesses” to play games and read stories to the girls. They did some nail art and face painting too, which was a huge hit!
